We're a small family artisan food enterprise in Toronto, Canada dedicated to the idea that baked goods can actually be wholesome, real food. Our innovative "pre-industrial" baking mixes are based on the revelation that traditional organic grains—freshly ground—are the key to great tasting and authentically nutritious baked goods that actually contribute to health and vitality rather than detracting from it, the way real food always has through the ages.
Our goal is to evangelize the amazing benefits of fresh grain baking while making it easy and satisfying for novice and expert bakers alike.
The story behind the product
GRAINSTORM was founded in 2010 by David Zivot, a Toronto marketer and avid foodie who had spent over 20 years at a desk, hunched over his computer getting increasingly fat and unhealthy. A few years back, David got fed up. He forged himself a path to healthy eating that didn't require giving up good food. He lost almost 60 pounds and became fit for the first time since he got his driver's licence. Out of his intensive nutritional exploration came the quest for healthy "good carb" treats, which led to fresh-ground whole grains, which led, through twists and turns, to GRAINSTORM. Our mission is to share learning and provide products that offer a practical solution for restoring wheat to its traditional role as a healthy food staple.
