Red Fife is a heritage red spring wheat native to Ontario. It was renown in the 1800s for superior taste and baking performance and is one of the grandfathers of modern hybridized wheat. It is a "low-input" grain, meaning it grows well without high input of chemicals. It still yields less than half of modern wheat, but it tastes way better. Especially fresh-ground!

Our Red Fife Heritage Muffin Base is the lightest of our muffin bases, both in taste and texture, so it works great for coffee cakes and other treats, but is also great plain as it has a wonderful, delicate wheaty flavor.

Our mixes are designed to be used in one batch however opened bags will store tightly wrapped in freezer for 3-4 weeks • finished goods freeze beautifully • nut and peanut free • certified organic • view images for ingredients and nutrition label
